These photographs were taken in a small boatyard on the Salt Run in St. Augustine, Florida. It’s not very big, or even picturesque. However, it does have a few piers, old pilings in the water, and a view of the historic Lighthouse. Just as important the tourist area is nowhere close. At most you will share space with a few fishermen, maybe a dog, and of course the local Pelicans.
We usually stop here at sunset whenever we are in town. Last week I wandered around taking random shots. The colors here make things interesting.

I like the colors, contrast, and bright tones of the old 35mm film. While I haven’t shot film in ‘forever’ you still can get a pretty close image.
Fuji cameras have built in filters for just that. Developing software also works well. I use DxO Filmpack, designed specifically for film simulation, and it integrates with most RAW photography systems.

The images here were finished using both Kodachrome 25 and Kodachrome 64 filters.

Something a little different for the web site, and me.
I now have Paul Simon’s song “Kodachrome” playing in my head. I remember well shooting slide film like Kodachrome, though it was for touristy and family subjects back then and not for wildlife. 🙂
I shot mostly B&W, never any film for wildlife…unless NYC Central Park counts (though now it might).
I thought that the last time I shot film was a few years ago and was shocked to see that it was actually in 2015. I did capture a shot of a butterfly and a lion (at the national zoo), so maybe that counts as “wildlife.” (https://michaelqpowell.com/2015/09/03/shooting-film-part-2/ )
Works for me 😂😂. My last time was decades ago.
Funny, that great Paul Simon tune popped into my head too!
It was bouncing around in my head as I typed it 🤣😂
