Two sets of Egrets below taken at first light. When the sun is low the best shots can be using the Spanish Moss as well as the birds for photographs.

The first set have a Great Egret climbing to land on a Cypress in the swamp. The shot above has a bonus I didn’t see. If you look close there is a second Egret already flying in the tree. His silhouette is highlighted through the first birds open wings.

Below an Egret was settling on a small tree growing on an island. Large Cypress there have Great Blue Herons already nesting, the Egrets are just beginning.

All the above were photographed in the larger swamp area of Magnolia Plantation, Charleston.
Silky wings — and what a wingspan, beautiful 🤩
There are so many they chase each other, almost collide, and the occasional ‘disagreement’.
Absolutely glorious.
Gwen.
Thanks so much 😁
A beautiful group of photos!
This is one of the places that convinced us to move here. Seven years ago we came down to shoot for two months. 🤣. We did need to go back north one more time though, had to sell the house and everything else.
I can definitely see why you decided to move.
