Last week we took two days and stopped in several South Carolina and Georgia locations. It wasn’t really planned, those can be the best kind.
Below was taken in Port Royal, South Carolina. It’s on the Georgia border, near Beaufort and Parris Island.

This is primarily a small bird rookery. A few Great Egrets and Wood Storks, but not many.
Most nesting areas are hidden on a small island with thick brush, but along the swamps edges there is always so type of activity.
Being near the center of town many of the birds ignore any people nearby. They are always separated by water keeping them a comfortable distance away.

That last shot looks like it is getting ready to do a little foot fishing.
😂, not this time but I did get a number of them doing that the other day LOL
