This Great Blue found a pile of reeds and dry cattails. He could build 10 nests with all this. Only problem, too many choices.

Parts of the old swamp near us (Magnolia Plantation) had been overgrown and was almost becoming solid ground in places. Hoping to bring more space to the swamp and rookeries (once there were several here) large sections were cleared of invading plants, dredged, with the removed reeds piled on the islands that were hidden.
Everything is settling in now letting nature return. The birds are fishing here, nests may take a few seasons. Oh, the Alligators were the first to claim the islands. There’s a reason they’ve been around a million years.
True words, those gators are survivors.
Yeah, and they are every where here. My wife told me she watched one this afternoon ‘plop’ down across a trail filled with tourists. They had no where to go but wait for him to leave. Eventually he did, but pretty funny I’m told.
