At a recent stop to the Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal much of the interesting action was off to the quiet side of the swamp. I prefer this since the critters can wander closer on their own.


The swamp here can be a bit dark. I try to remember this and carry a lens best suited for low light.
This Tricolored Heron basically planted himself in one spot and waited for the minnows to swim past. He did well and captured a good supply, which was needed since they are so tiny.

It never ceases to amaze me how hard the tricolored herons usually work for all those tiny little fish😉
