Every time I drive by this house I am in awe of how long it has survived in these woods. It’s really an impressive building, with many Victorian features. It has also been empty for decades.
Family members still live in the Charleston area and I have heard from them several times over the years regarding my photographs of the homestead.
Once cattle were raised here. That alone is amazing considering all the other things that live here too.
In 2022 the county rescue group came to evacuate two hikers lost near here. The chief said in an interview ‘we wanted to get them before dark since half of everything out here wants to eat them’. Exaggeration, but you get the idea.
