New meaning to the term ‘Fly Fishing’.
Great Egrets don’t do this very often and when they do it’s usually to grab a stick they see floating. This time it was something swimming near the surface.

This bird flew low and suddenly reached down to pluck something from the water.

I don’t think I have captured more than a few like this. Because it happens so rarely we are hardly ever prepared to catch it as a series. Most of the time we are following the birds flight and where they should be, not stopping mid air for a snack.

Above you can see the Egret did catch something. Hardly looks worth the effort, not to mention the gators swimming there.
