I would love to see these birds with their bridal feathers, we are on the gulf coast right now enjoying spring migration of the song birds. But the egrets are not dressed up yet with their beautiful flowing feathers. We are leaving in two weeks so I might not see it here again. 🙂 but I enjoy seeing your photos of them.
Sketches by Audubon helped creat awareness to save these birds. Audubon did work right in this swamp, his wife was a cousin to the plantation owners. They plantation now calls this the ‘Audubon Swamp’. The society tried to get them to stop using the name, however being a family member they have every right to use it.
