In general small town main street is crumbling, even disappearing. However when it comes to holidays, especially patriotic ones, they get a good cleanup and the flags come out.
Usually I would wander around a town shooting B&W exclusively. This day just seemed to call for color.

All the small towns around here are suffering from Dollar General push out – hate to see those long time mom and pop shops go out of business.
the rural south, and Main Street, is all plywood, rust, and ruin. Makes for great photography though. I have a 7 year B&W project documenting it.
