So, when looking for Alligators the easiest thing is to walk the dikes and find them floating along in the marsh water. Maybe you might find them lying in the side of a dike, but they jump in the water as you come up to them.
There’s always exceptions, like this guy. First he was on top of the dike, right smack in the middle. Then he wasn’t jumping down into the water. Not happening.
We tried talking to him, stomping our feet real loud which works great. When all the usual failed I walked up and spoke low and serious. Not that close obviously, but he was not budging. Unfortunately the dike was not wide enough to walk right past.

Before going back the way we came I grabbed a few shots of the ‘stubborn’ gator. We joke about this one since it’s rare to have a stand off like this. Kudos to the critter.
