To me this is the original ‘Daffy Duck’. The only duck I know with that famous big flat bill.
I just viewed a map of their range, I didn’t know they are so common and live world wide. The southern US coast is a short winter vacation for them.

Shovelers we got! Have to admit, they’ve become like Coots and rarely grab our attention these days due to their abundance. I do like the reference to Daffy, that is spot on.
Coots are also seasonal here. Their cousin the Gallinule are everywhere though.
