This pond sits behind the main houses and farm, down a small hill (a hill around here is big deal). The mill house at the other end borders the Ashley River, a flood gate releases water from the pond.

From Charleston this was the last plantation along the river. Between here and town (left from the mill house) sits the ruins of RunnyMede, next Magnolia Plantation, and finally Drayton Hall. This stretch was plantation row outside Charleston.
I need to get back to Charleston some day.
