St. John The Baptist, Monochrome

St. John The Baptist, Monochrome

This is the cathedral for the Roman Catholic diocese in Charleston. Everything about this building is impressive. It is designed in the Gothic Revival style, made with brownstone brought  down for Connecticut around 1890. Like much of  Charleston the first church burned. Pretty much a recurring theme.

Over the past few months I found myself looking, and working, in monochrome. I hope to create more of the historical locations  published here that way. It’s probably like a New Year’s resolution though 😁.

    1. Hugo tore everything up. There are places you can still see damage. And yet, I spent a few days in a 150 year old house, on a deserted barrier island that was hit dead on by the storm. Everything gone, except this house. Hardly dented… yep they don’t make things like they used to 😂🤣
