Pileated Woodpecker, Bird Detection

I think I’m a convert to the OM System bird detection. Credit goes to the camera here, not me.

I was shooting an Egret, but kept hearing the Woodpecker. Finally I looked and ‘semi’ spotted him. I was blinded by sunlight from the side. I could see the view finder and focus points dancing around the tree so I shot.

I’m still old school photography, but I’m being dragged along.

  1. I like that old saying, “Luck favors the prepared”. You were there, you were listening, your settings were good for the light. And what a cool bird! We have them here, but I have yet to see one.
