We spotted this young bird in a tree hanging over a dirt road running along a dike. Photo wise this was not a hard shot, but physically…bad angle with lots of leaves. Having a rebuilt neck didn’t help either.

Just outside this image is a Great Egret sharing the tree. He was even worse and I’m not sure I have any decent shots of him.
An excellent phot! I don’t think I’ve seen a young one before.
Thanks. They start out all brown, then a year later like this one. Next step, probably late spring, is the adult white.
