Botany Bay plantation and wildlife area is on a barrier island in South Carolina. Originally the land was two plantations going back to colonial times, Cloud Plantation and Bleak Hall Plantation.
The wildlife area faces St. Helena Sound (ACE Basin), on the Atlantic Ocean. Getting access to the beach is based on the tides. This was shot while the tide was rising, tide comes in quick here…I know that for a fact LOL.

The bone yard trees along the ocean side change constantly. Barrier Islands are the first landfall for the yearly hurricanes and tropical storms.

Damn! That’s magical!
The idea of a ‘bone yard’ was completely new to me until moving here. There are several along the South Carolina coast, but they keep changing. Hurricanes and sea currents add new ones, and removed the old ones.
This place is my favorite even if it’s tricky to get there and deal with high tides. Timing needs to be good or you will be caught by tides and need to hike through so rather unpleasant terrain. I have been caught and had to walk in quickly, camera gear held over my head LOL. Ocean can be cold too 😂🤣.
I have a few more shots still be finished, glad you liked them. Good to hear from you.
