We must have walked 10 feet from this Heron and never knew he was there. The brush where he sat was on the side of a dirt causeway we both drove over, then walked along. You can see in the photographs the top is light, bottom in shade.

The only reason I noticed him was after walking on a small spit of land I turned to look back. From there he was sitting in plain sight. This was just after sunrise so he may have been waiting for light to fish by.
