No award winners here, but a fun series of an Egret fishing a different way. Everything needs to fall in place to catch this.
Below the Egret was watching and waiting as water flowed through the open trunk gate. They know fish come through too.

Finally spotting something the bird makes a dive.



Flying, and hovering, over the surface the Egret makes a quick catch.



And of course, the brush finally hid what exactly was caught. Whatever it was the Egret kept going over the marsh with his prize.
You never know what you mat see out there.

These are really fun series! I have never seen a Great Egret fish in unusual way 🙂
The smaller Snowy Egret do this a bit more. When the water is deep or a bit dangerous they try to avoid landing.
