Whistling Ducks, Gallinule, A Swamp

I think if it had not been for the Gallinule we would not have seen any of them. Gallinule can’t help themselves, warning wails and chaos follows them.

Below you can see a splashing warning, and Whistling Ducks moving away.

Some ducks paddled over to an open area. I was able to shoot a few photos before they were gone again. This was a family of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks.

Below are two young birds with adults.

This is very close to the first place we had ever seen these ducks. It was only about 5 years ago that they moved into the Lowcountry to breed. Even now the biggest flock I’ve seen was around thirty birds.
