A Hostile Takeover, Pelicans

The shrimp boat was tied up for the night, but I think these Pelicans wanted to make sure it didn’t go anywhere without them.

One great thing about these boats is almost everything is a bright, neon, color. Nets, floats, rigging, even the bait bins are vivid.

Makes for great images.

Dolphin Pushing The Fish To Shore

A few photographs of a Dolphin as he drove a school of fish to shore.

At this pass fish were caught before reaching shore. The Dolphin then turned aside and repeated the chase to shore several times.

While I photographed at this location, a photographer was on either side of me capturing a different set strand feeding.

Great Egret

While I do try to keep the environment in my photographs I don’t hide the main subject. Except in cases like this. The wooden pylons provided a little character.

The bird never did fly away, even after I walked right by.

The old rice field water gates (trunk)  were right there so I assume the fish were more important than me.

Egrets At A Marsh

A pair of Great Egrets on the edge of a large marsh. The low light days create both good and bad photographs. Most are just too dim or flat. However, the water can show nice reflections with none of the suns glare.

As we come into this ‘dull’ part of the year I need to remind myself of this, and get out anyway.

A Fishing Story, Heron

If you don’t go out, you won’t get the shot. And it was one of those days. Mostly dark and dreary. We still managed to get this ‘greedy’ Great Blue.

I moved for a better shot, and should not have since I missed the big gulp.

Cemetery In Black And White

Every old cemetery is filled with history and stories. These old southern cemeteries throw in a little haunting imagery.

There is an interesting article written, ‘Buried In Roses’, from New Zealand, that shows the story telling and mystique is universal.

A Southern Landscape For A Quick Change

Yes, we are primarily nature / wildlife photographers. However, doing the same thing over and over will get us stale.

I’ve been told this view, a simple stretch of old road, hangs in more Charleston homes than anything else around.

Spanish Moss on old Live Oaks is about as Charleston as you can get. Throw in an old plantation road…this is what you see.
