Little Blue Heron In Flight

One of the few negatives to photographing in a marsh or swamp is the lack of open space. At the shore or in fields we can see a bird coming and have time to pan and swing the camera with the bird. In a swamp you try for an opening in the trees and time everything for when they (should) appear. In general a boat load of junk is what you get.

Sometimes they appear on time and (with luck) slow enough for an in flight photo.

The Classic Great Egret

I published a  single image of these photographs last week. These are a few of the others taken at the time. The big white bird with the bright blue back ground was an almost perfect combination.

The problem I hit was trying to balance the whites just enough so as not to blow out the photo. I had plenty of time to change stops, speed, and even white balance since he was obviously not going anywhere.

Not all came out as planned, never do, but these will go in a gallery web site.
