Snowy up on an old wooden pylon in a marsh. There are many old structures like this around, probably from past hunting blinds or boat docks. Some critter is usually taking advantage of them.

Charleston graveyards can be found behind every church, down many alleys, almost anywhere.
There’s an entire tourist industry built around showing people all the hidden nooks and crannies.
I’ve been wandering around them for seven years and still find new spots.
Charleston, South Carolina.
This was taken in a corner of Soldiers Ground, a US Civil War cemetery in Charleston. The year 1864 saw many graves filled here with Confederate troops. General Sherman on the federal side was starting his ‘march to the sea’ with Georgia and South Carolina in the path.
Note; The finish of this photograph is in the style of the Bonfils Studio, Lebanon.
Félix Adrien Bonfils was a French photographer and writer who was active in the Middle East. He was one of the first commercial photographers to produce images of the Middle East on a large scale and amongst the first to employ a new method of color photography, developed in 1880. The studio sold photographs from catalog’s which were first introduced at the 1878 Paris Exposition.
You are now in possession of information you will most likely never need.
Commercial shrimpers tied up at the docks.
The trawling season is a bit flexible I think. There are three different seasons. South Carolina DNR checks the waters and determines time frames. A bit confusing to a land guy.
I love to shoot these boats and piers so I just go by the tide and hope for the best. There’s always something here. Besides, plenty of sea food places to eat.
Monochrome Shrimp Boats, Shem Creek, South Carolina.
Looking down the center aisle of St. Michaels. The lighting and stained glass here make this one of the most colorful churches in a city filled with historical churches.
What I didn’t expect was a B&W photo to be so interesting. Without the color all the details take over.
St Michael’s Anglican Church, Black And White
A few shots taken as we walked through several of the old Charleston church yards.
These wanderings are a lesson in history. You will find stories from the US Revolutionary War, our Civil War, pandemics, and even earthquakes.
