Ceramic

Why you ask, because someone must buy them. This was a bin full of ceramic skulls. Mexican pottery actually. Nothing like a box of colorful heads.

I have been work in more black and white lately. This photograph has been processed with an Agfa 400 35mm film type filter. Agfa was the film I used in the 60’s and 70’s so I am experimenting with a digital variation.

I don’t seem to have any old photos of heads so it’s hard to compare this with an original. Probably a good thing. It was the 60’s after all.

Night Shrimp Boats

Shot just after sunset with my backup camera, a Canon 70D. Both photographs had the usual ISO grain issues the 70D produces in low light, but here it helped in black and white.

Lightroom and Silver Efex was used in the processing here. I am becoming a fan of the Efex ‘film filters’ which let you select a 35mm film type display. I had always used Agfa with file and now can revisit it with the mess.

Carriageway To Plantation House Black And White

Usually photographs like this are not very good unless color. I had a need for a landscape shot like this so tried a few different versions.

I liked this as a draft, so completed the process.

Personally I like the finished photo. I did need to dodge (soft lightening method) the left side a little. After that the old trees lead the eye to the focal point of the house.
