Staying local today we walked out to marshes along the Ashley River. The day started out cloudy, but the sun came through off and on. Usually in the middle of shooting something of course.
Snowy Egrets were moving around out in the cane, not close so with my long lens I took a few wider scenes.
Best viewed large.
A Bald Eagle was watching in the pines behind the marsh. Of course a few gators were around somewhere.
This whole time a rare group of birds were loudly circling. The US Airforce Thunderbirds precision flying team was practicing overhead…and at times low. The birds didn’t care at all, amazing.
I took a few half hearted shots of them, the haze was horrible.
In this spot the distance between where the Egrets collect their sticks and the thickets they nest in is not very far. Add a second challenge is the angle, directly at you. Basically a bunch of misses, or not even any attempts.
These two shots were taken as the bird passed on one of multiple trips to gather material. Just a few is a win right here.
One of the nicer full bow displays of 2024. However, there are three other parts of the dance. None of which this bird knew. But wow, what a feather flair.
