Oliphaunt

Grey as a mouse,
Big as a house,
Nose like a snake,
I make the earth shake,
As I tramp through the grass;
Trees crack as I pass.
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South,
Flapping big ears.
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round,
Never lie on the ground,
Not even to die.
Oliphaunt am I,
Biggest of all,
Huge, old, and tall.
If ever you’d met me
You wouldn’t forget me.
If you never do,
You won’t think I’m true;
But old Oliphaunt am I,
And I never lie.

Pond Reflections

While searching for the last fall colors I have started to photograph the places turning barren and brown.

Here the dead trees that recently were overshadowed by color now take center stage with their reflections.

it’s a good thing I’m still looking around. Otherwise it could be a long winter.

White-throated Sparrow

This White-throated Sparrow was photographed near a small swamp close to the Connecticut River. The swamp is not very big, and unfortunately very polluted. An old manufacturing building has ruined the ground here.

While the swamp is not clean there are always a variety of birds here at any given time. When I have the patience to stand along the banks some type of critter will usually show up.

Once again playing tag with the eagles brought no good photographs, but now I know to stop here. I should probably start here an save myself a long walk.
