I caught these 2 soaking up the sun the other day. When the temperature dips, they hold up somewhere. Sun brings them out to warm up.

Hidden in the marsh mud, Alligator
Not too many things are going to lay around in the ‘pluff’ mud. Pluff being the marshland mud unique to the lowcountry.
Pluff Mud : Pluff mud or “plough mud,” depending on the century of your birth, is an oozy, viscous, dark-brown miasma. The origin and the accompanying smell is the rare confluence of abundant life and death. (Charleston Magazine)
Alligators don’t mind it at all. Neither do people if you are born here.
Think of the worse low tide ever…perfume compared to Pluff.
Calhoun
Calhoun held every major office in the US with the exception of President. He is also only one of two people who resigned the office of Vice President. He was a defender of slavery and the secession of the south from the USA. Everything about the man is a contradiction.
Matthew Brady, the famous civil war and Lincoln photographer took one of his most well known ‘tin types’ of Calhoun. Downright scary looking individual !
