Fall Colors And A Great Blue
A Great Blue flew into the swamp and went straight to the corner with the most color.
Lucky me, I was directly across from the Cypress he landed in.

Church Street Hat Man, Charleston SC
First painted in 1892, the ‘Hat Man’.
This was an ad for the Plenge Haberdashery, Church Street, Charleston, SC.
BTW, it is said if you look long enough the Hat Man is made up of 16 different hats.
Good luck with that.
Brown Pelican, Close Flight
This is a lemonade from lemons shot. I clipped the wing tip feathers since he was too close. Usually a sure delete.
While doing some landscapes in a new film look I was testing I grabbed this too.
Interesting, and Kodachrome 100 for sure.
Private Collection
Prior to the US Civil War Charleston planters and traders were among the wealthiest people in the country.
Above was taken in the private gallery of an 1800’s Charleston family.
Blue Heron Rookery
The boys are back in town.
Male Great Blue Herons are in the rookery claiming the best nesting spots.
There’s lots of changing places, some fighting, and even early repairs to last years old branches.
One of the islands has plenty of red leaves and big trees. The Herons were flying around, over, and through making great shots, if you were in the right spot.
I missed more than a few, I’m rusty, and need to get more practice.
Colors are now a combination of a few fall reds, browns, and the greens of Palmettos.
Activity will pickup and continue on through summer. There will always be quiet times, but I even saw the first female tormenting / fighting a male at a nest.
