Night comes along real quick here. It’s not particularly difficult getting around when it does hit. It’s just easier when you can see a little.

Above is a road we use to get to the furthest open water at sunset.

This is around the time to leave the large water. It’s about 4 miles (6.5 K) to reach the main road from here. No speeding, or you may break something and have to walk.

Another reason to leave slow is the critters, they are wandering around now. In the above image the fore ground has a ‘bump’ in the water. A pair of eyes watching us leave.

 

Crowds On The Beach

These are more general interest type photographs. Birds don’t know the difference between beach and sand bar so I took liberty with the title.

About mid day large flocks of Willett will gather along the edge of these bars. Few looked to feed so I assume a place to rest.

Open space in the middle is usually filled with the bigger residents.

Almost every bar found will have a population of White Pelican. I never have seen any of the shore White Pelican feed. They must fly to inlets and dip along the surface in the shallow Mangrove Islands.
