Night, Rain, And A Bridge

I only have a vague idea where this is. We were driving back from shooting wildlife all day and had to cross this bridge. There was a small parking area we quickly pulled into.

Each of these images were taken without a tripod and over a short period as it became darker.

The area was large enough to walk around and get different angles.

With the right gear these had the potential to be spectacular. Even doing this ‘on the fly’ created some interesting photographs.

Paraboarding

Some photographs completely at odds with most of this site. Fun and interesting, and captured with zero planning.

We pulled over into a small parking area after driving for most of the day. The idea was to unpack our gear and drive down a marsh road before dark.

A big sail went by and just on the other side of the road, very close to shore on this water way, was a person on a paraboard.

This is how close to shore he was.

I needed to setup the lens and camera, so what better way.

A Workshop

Several random images from a craftsmen’s work shop.

The final finishing of these photographs is based on the methods I’ve used for this farm in the past.

If I find a style of image that I think might fit other projects I try to save the completed process as an Adobe Lightroom preset. Even if Lightroom is not the primary method I can still usually save enough for ongoing developing.

Of course the trick is to remember to save it in the first place.

Headstones, Old Cemetery, Different Approach

Photographs from yet another walk around an old cemetery. Perhaps strange, but they’re always so peaceful, and picturesque.

I have been using a new lens, Tamron 18-400 mm, on my cameras. While it had the expected short comings it also has more than made up for them in versatility.

All the images here were taken at 200 mm + , zoomed out. Normally for this type of work I would use a shorter 100 mm or even 50 mm prime lens.

Now I can get the Bokeh (blurred background) or wide scenes without dinking around with gear.

Best of all it’s very light weight and at times I carry no pack at all. I just fill my pockets with a few things.
