Charleston, Sea Wall

The city is on a peninsula with the Cooper and Ashley river on either side, and a harbor to the Atlantic Ocean at it’s tip.  For centuries there has been a sea wall. A defense against both enemies and the sea.

Above is a view to the Cooper river. A small beach area, palm trees, even a Dolphin a little off shore if you look close.

A mid December afternoon photograph.

Charleston Rooftops

Charleston, South Carolina was founded in 1670. It is a rather old city for the new world, and was the wealthiest city in the US until the civil war.

The many churches and old buildings crowd together in the city center making a roof top shot really a combination of old buildings.

I could not isolate what is now the Gibbs museum away from the nearby churches. It did make for an interesting image though.
