I almost never do a Black and White landscape. They are difficult and mine typically fall flat. However, I don’t give up either and I may be getting better at it.
It’s just taking me longer than most.

Getting a shot, sharp focus, clear colors… then drop color, add cyan, and soften the focus.
Makes perfect sense to a photographer.
A dragon …
End of day shot.
Photographed from a boat launch off the Ashley River, Charleston, South Carolina.
Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays
Time has not been good to many small towns. I have walked, and shot, this street several times in the past year. Nothing has changed, one way or the other.
Anything I can think to say here will sound political to someone. So I will not make any comments other than to ask, is there anything that could breath life back into small town Main Street?
This is one of my favorite B&W shots. It was originally published on an all Black and White web site last year.
Shot in a small rural town in South Carolina, the main focus of the image was the rough end of an old dirt road. And signs by the RR track were clear, the road ends.
And then, with perfect timing…
a small Guinea Hen walked out into the shot.
I like to think of this style as ‘rural street photography’.
