Lincoln

Two photographs that I think actually are better because there are people included.  My personal preference is to rarely have any people in an image. Unless they are the main subject I’ve always felt they take away from focal point.

However, here I was wrong. The silhouettes add depth and interest. No matter how I tried there was always someone in the shot. Even at night.

The above image, shot at a different length, absolutely needed the extras for perspective.

Pink Tree, Spoonbills

As I work through all the various Spoonbill photographs I find one constant, they are photogenic.

They are different and colorful enough to grab your attention. Once they have it it’s hard not to become fascinated with them.

When you get a ‘bowl’ (group) together it’s a guarantee of good images.

Tricolored Heron, Tempting Fate

There are 12,000 acres of marsh right here! So what was so special about this spot?

A Tricolored is about 26 inches (66 cm) tall. Compare that to his friend.

Maybe ‘let sleeping gators lie’ ?

And look at the fish he caught. Is that worth it?

Spoonbill Antics

The flying bird must have been trying to impress the other calmly walking around. He flew by, almost too close, many times.

Finally I had to take the shot.

After a few more times he just walked up and introduced himself. Probably should have done that from the start. Save himself some work.

Alligators Feeding

On a chilly morning when the sun comes out so do the Alligators. This day they came out in force. The big guys being especially active.

In this spot you couldn’t tell where one started and the other ended. There are places where Alligators are plentiful, but today we could count 60 – 70 in any given location.

It was certainly not a day for people to be hanging out on top of the dikes. Some places were like a public beach, sun bathing was popular.

They looked to be feeding on small schools of fish just under the surface here.
