Some are allowed to cut in line.

This alligator is actually being polite by climbing over the turtles. Some just charge down the middle and throw them over board.
This heron say alone most all of the day. I had found a comfortable spot and stayed there from morning to mid afternoon.
This bird would sit, call for the mate, and finally just go get sticks without help.
Each time I think I am done photographing the nest building I capture another sequence I like.
These birds are as common as a pigeon in the city, at least in the marshes. Yet because they keep tight flocks and harsh light decent images are hard to come by.
Like a Coot they have absurdly long toes, yes very weird. However, it makes sense here. They flap their wings fast and suddenly are running across the water and vegetation. Fast, which helps them avoid being  dinner.

Not many photographs capture the Great Egret hunting in brush or woods. It’s common since egrets feed on insects, lizards, and just about anything else they can catch.
The photograph above was taken at a distance since the bird was actually on an island in the swamp. Also she was walking along the tops of the larger bushes. Large alligators live on this island too.
This is not the last set of photographs of Anhinga. I have the spot and love watching these birds. Agile in the air and water, really clumsy in trees (watched one fall off yesterday).
Fascinating fishers.
If you are this small, and live where he does, you never stop looking around. They are called ‘submarines’ because they dive so fast and far. Which us probably why they are still around.
These photographs are good examples of my personal taste in images. Don’t pull to close, or crop too much, on the subject. The surrounding environment helps keep things in perspective.
Even here where it’s negative space of the evening water.
My opinion anyway.
Dark, and best viewed on a large screen, but I had to add this on-line. The photograph is a good representation of being there.
Each small piece, that makes up the experience is here.
Here I caught the golden hour color, white egret on the small island, Spanish Moss on a cypress, and the main subject an alligator floating by. All that is missing is the sound of the night coming alive. If you have a mental picture, just add a chill to the air.
Can you tell I like this shot.
