I see this all the time. But I have yet to know why.

Great Egret In A Pine
If I could pick the perfect spot for an Egret, it’s in a big dark green pine / cypress. When I get the chance I shoot it. Most are either too far or a branch is in the way.
When the pieces fall in place it makes for a dramatic photograph.
Colorful Red Shouldered Hawk
I photographed this bird 2 different ways. The initial shots were light and washed out for a softer look. But here I went with spot metering and some compensation for a little more drama.
He was more than happy to sit there and we even moved around for different angles he stayed so long.
Big Ole Alligator Relaxing
i couldn’t pass up taking a shot of this big guy stretched out on the platform. He is pretty big and took over the biggest place to sleep out there.
Nobody seemed inclined to argue about it.
Ibis, High Key
We went out the other day, 5 seasoned photographers, and were lucky enough to find multiple flocks, different species, pretty much a nature photographers pot of gold.
So, the first image I finished was this.
Black and white, high key, landscape shot of Ibis. I really liked it due to the detailed silhouettes.
And of course, I see where one of the others saw the flocks, took the shots, and also first thing… a nice high key image.
Great minds think alike !!
Ibis Fly By
The Ibis were very cooperative the other day. I almost never get these shots because Ibis just can’t fly a straight line.
Here the flock flew as if they were ducks. It was an organized group flight.
Spoonbill Watching Closely
The morning light caught the birds red eyes perfectly. I don’t think I was allowed to get any closer here.
I had gone out assuming the Spoonbills would be gone. Guess I’m not all that bird smart after all. We found flocks of all sizes in several locations.
They Start Out Very Small
This was taken at about 500 mm. That’s why you can see the tiny duck weed leaves. This baby was still chirping. The size was around 7 inches (2 1/2 cm).
I did not see Mom around, but she was there. They always are.
