Not something I see every day. Not a native bird, his true home is New Zealand, Australia, and Tasmania. However, Sumter, South Carolina, has plenty with more on the way based on nests and young I saw.

They’re everywhere in New Zealand, up in the north to right down to here in the south!
We have swans, a few white breeds. Most are up north. The way the black ones here are breeding we may soon have more than expected. They seem to like the weather, as long as Alligators are kept away.
They’re tough beggars! They become a problem in some places here. Too prolific. The male is very aggressive when they’re nesting or got young too. Big garden down south here has got them. You can be nowhere them and you’ll see the male swimming angrily across the pond toward you, like a rocket. We always retreat up the hill quickly, LOL!
