Once Burned, Monochrome Monday

Walk through an old pine forest and you will see the scars.

The trees are tall and strong, near the base are small damages, blackened areas, even indentations.

The forest was burned, but a control burn. Dead grass is missing, healthy tall plants are all around. Nothing for a wild forest fire to eat.

White Ibis – Monochrome Monday

Two simple monochrome photographs of a White Ibis around swamp water.

Usually I don’t do any straight out of camera photographs. However these were cropped and published.

Ellen and I both relied more on shorter lenses in St. Augustine. The rookery birds ignore people and have been nesting here for many generations.  A very unique situation.
