Some Golden Light, Tricolored Heron

I had only a moment to catch the small heron. He was wandering the edge of a salt marsh as the tide was rising and I only noticed him when he moved back towards the reeds.

Color here was very nice, though I think at this point I started to rush my shots. As the sun comes up over the tree line the water picks up a glare and I knew that. I’ve lost some really good images right here from ‘dinking’ around with my settings last minute.

Found on a walk.

I’m sure at some point these were planted here. This property is owned by Magnolia Plantation. The previous biologist here would have fits when out walking the grounds and finding nonnative plants.

In various, often odd, places flowers like these show up. Some are from seeds the local birds distribute, others are just there looking pretty.

A flower I had completely forgotten about. This is a late fall bloomer in the swamps here.
