Suzy is having a good year. Brutal sun must agree with them.

Both photographs were finished using DxO Filmpack. I tend to bounce between multiple photo software when developing an image. It’s actually not much different than staying in a single app when they integrate correctly. No software does everything the best, so to me it makes sense having a few different tools.

People have a love/hate relationship with Lightroom (me too) but Adobe systems will play well with others. That may be part of their secret sauce, after all they do own the general market.

ON1 ‘kind of’ has decent integration. You need to figure work arounds and patience to use it though. They tend to break and change things with their updates. But like Lightroom you can work with most any file type which is required during integration.

The other photography software stop at RAW files.

Bees (?) – Almost Macro

This is about as close to macro as I’m ever going to get.

These Bees (or whatever) are on Trumpet Vine flowers. Some up maybe 8 feet off the ground. We have some pretty big vines, loaded with flowers each year, and growing higher all the time.

I do my best to get open shots, usually with the lens pushed all the way. This takes practice too. I need to get much better with patience, getting more depth on focus, and finding subjects.

Best viewed large, these critters are small lol.

We followed a path yesterday through the old plantation Camellia gardens. Some of the bushes are a bit tattered with weather and age, but they bloom almost all year long.

This was the only shot for me, but I lost Ellen several times as she could not just pass big red blooms.

No need for me to shoot lol

I had only a moment to catch the small heron. He was wandering the edge of a salt marsh as the tide was rising and I only noticed him when he moved back towards the reeds.

Color here was very nice, though I think at this point I started to rush my shots. As the sun comes up over the tree line the water picks up a glare and I knew that. I’ve lost some really good images right here from ‘dinking’ around with my settings last minute.

Found on a walk.

I’m sure at some point these were planted here. This property is owned by Magnolia Plantation. The previous biologist here would have fits when out walking the grounds and finding nonnative plants.
