I am planning on updating my DxO software so I went and looked around what I currently have. One thing lead to another, next thing I know I’m trying a few things in Silver Efex.

I struggled for this shot, this is not exactly a huge Mushroom, the bad back kicking in. Ellen came in to the rescue. She just took the camera and climbed down for the perfect angle.

The flash referred to here is the small Godox iT32. While I have another flash unit, a larger and older Godox it just never really felt right on smaller OM-1 cameras. The iT32 is a perfect balance on this body. My only complaint being the size is too small for my Rogue Bender soft box kits.
The flash is an interesting two piece design. There is a hot shoe mount that is available for all major camera brands, and a universal flash that sits magnetically on top of the hot shoe mount. That means if you have 2 different brands of cameras you simply buy inexpensive mounts for each brand and can use the same flash unit on each. The universal flash price is about $75.00 US, and each hot shoe around $50.00 US. The flash is both receiver and transmitter also. In short it does whatever you might need, easily, and it’s inexpensive.

A Snowy doing a balancing act along a low hanging branch.
When I shot this I captured a series of this bird on these branches. What struck me was the birds long legs and how I could barely tell them apart from the branches he walked.

I was looking around for some new Snowy Egret shots. I’ve published Great Egrets recently, even have a few in the que, but no little Snowy Egrets. My current active hard drive has thousands of images I just had to go find some Snowy’s.
I found some.
Two Snowy Egrets in some brush preening and getting all fluffy. For something different I finished them in a sepia tone.

From the original 1800’s Charleston Jail.

Note;
In 2019 a group of around 8 people were invited to document the old jail for what might have been the last time. The property had been sold to private developers, the interior was set to be demolished. The original interior was intact at this point.
Ellen and I, along with a well known historical photographer who was instrumental in getting us there, were included. The above was one of my favorite, and horrific, images.
Think of being in the dark cell, thick bars and block walls, and seeing the keys hanging across the hall… out of reach. Stedt Bonneau, the Gentleman Pirate, and the crew of Black Beard’s pirates were held here before execution.
During the late 1800’s a section was set aside as an asylum.
I’ll be locking my door tonight.
This old cemetery has dirt tracks that run along side marshes, woods, and ponds. Sometimes there’s a plan on where to go, most often I just wander. No matter what it’s an incredible place to be with a camera.
