These images show something that intrigues me. And considering how often I photograph them that’s saying something.

Above is a close up displaying the unique skin, scales and bone actually, of a large adult Alligator. A Crocodile is the only other animal I know like this. And if you compare all the different species none have the pronounced ridges of an American Alligator.

Fascinating animals.
Great shots, Ted. Those are closer looks at alligators than most of us will ever get and a whole lot closer than many would want to get, with wildlife photographers being a notable exception. 🙂
Thanks. There are some big ones around here. It’s all about location and timing for these shots. I used my old Canon 18-135 mm for these so they were close, but I was up on a sloped marsh bank.
Usually the only time I get closer is by mistake LOL
