Catching A Thermal, Pelican

This photograph is a good example of how Pelicans use the thermal ‘cushion’ on the waters surface.

He will ride this past the shrimp boats and right out to Charleston Harbor.

    1. Thanks. That’s a great spot to shoot the Pelicans. Long commercial fishing pier on either side. It’s a creek (big canal really) that empties into the ocean.

Pelicans catch the air right over the surface and fly in and out of the creek. Doesn’t hurt having shrimp boats throwing fish over the side either.
