This was about as good a spot for an osprey as I have seen.

On the back end of this large marsh / rice field is a large dike. It separates a river from marshes. The dike itself has been here for hundreds of years. Some medium size scrub trees have grown along the banks.

Osprey (Eagles and Hawks) can sit here and view wide open flat water, or glance down and check the flowing river for fish.

People cannot get too close either. The dike path runs under these trees and birds can see you coming from a long ways off.

I have had much better luck photographing Osprey catching fish up north. Here the land is always flat and open. There’s no reason to fish near people. They do, but not as often.
