These were taken at a wildlife management area, this spot about 9,000 acres (26k). Actually a smaller marsh in the ACE Basin.
Marshland this size contains an unknown number of Alligators. Once they reach this size they are the Alpha predator.

We were walking a dike separating two marshes and I guess we caught his attention.

We watched each other and then he slowly headed over, still keeping his eye on me.

There was no fast, aggressive movement. Just coming over for a look.

There was a time I might have thought this ‘a bad sign’ and left quickly. I now know this just is a curious Alligator.

And this is where he stopped, close enough to get a better look. They do this often making some people think they have poor eyesight.
Not true, at all. But they are curious.
I have looked at your blog too much. I am beginning to see alligators along the river here. I had to grab my camera and zoom in to calm myself. Ha
Given the fact it’s mid April you will know if they are around very soon. Mating season starts shortly. Should you hear (and feel) deep rumblings, see ponds vibrate, or loud chain saw sounding growls, they are there. LOL
I hope they stay south of me. Whew!
Cold blooded animals so they can’t go too far north. Though I have seen them sleep under the ice 😂😂
Omg. Amazing
