Now that this swamp is dry  it’s a new favorite. This Green Heron has been there every time I go by. I can go weeks without seeing one, they can be shy.

I hope they stay around after the water is back.

Little know Green Heron factoid. They lick their lips a lot, except they don’t have any.

In many photographs, or while watching one, you can see their tongue flick out, and well, lick their lips. I thought I was crazy at first, however after watching for several years…they actually do it.
