The Green Heron, one of the harder Herons to photograph. Besides the usual shy issue it’s their coloring and habitat.

I’m working through these images now but this came to the top.

Most of the time these birds stay in shallow muck and the shadows. Here there was enough light in spots to show all the different colors.

As I go through the days work I am looking for the famous Green Heron ‘lip lapping’.

Green Herons have a habit of flicking their tongue out almost like they are ‘licking their lips’. Except no lips. LOL.
