I knew the Heron had caught something but it was on the other side of this small swamp. I took the shot anyway.

Turned out to be a big Crayfish. The Owls catch these all the time, but the a stronger and built for a bigger prey.

Little Blue Heron are one of the smaller Herons so this was a big (and tough) prize.

He took it into the brush and I’m sure won the battle. It probably wasn’t easy though.
