Our most common Hawk in the swamps, Red-shouldered. There are some places in the south, particularly around the Everglades Swamps, where it is the only Hawk to be found.
They live in bottomland hardwood stands, flooded deciduous swamps, and upland mixed deciduous–conifer forests. They tend to live in stands with an open subcanopy, which makes hunting easier. (Wikipedia)
It’s not unusual to see them travel in pairs. I believe Eagles and Harris Hawks are the only other raptors that stay together all year.
Beautiful shots!
Thanks, one of the prettiest raptors.
