A small shallow pond is fed by water from a much larger plantation garden. There are few flowers, but plenty of swamp plants and small swimming ‘things’.

Little Blue Herons thrive on areas like this. At least one is strolling around the edges in the morning.

A mile or so down river is a rookery. Probably these birds were raised there and see no reason to move very far.

Next spring this one may be old enough to find a mate down there.
