Every time we got close a few quick wing flaps and we had to move along behind him again.
Finally I grabbed this and stopped bothering him. He must have had his reasons.

It’s great to see an image of a black vulture. We have them where I live but it has been quite some time since I last spotted one–it’s been all turkey vultures for me.
Probably equal numbers here. So many it’s easy to look right through them.
Awesome capture Ted! Like Mike, all I’ve seen out this way are turkey vultures.
Since they flock together you may have some and not realize it. Look for vultures flying that look to have a shorter wing span, and flap more to catch air currents. Black Vultures can’t glide as well as the Turkey so they must work harder. Unless standing close to them hard to spot the black head.
