Black-bellied Whistling Duck.
These ducks were part of a random conversation yesterday, in a boat filled with naturalists and like minded people. We were out along the coast here and coming across a large number of species. The talked turned to how many birds we now commonly see that have moved to the Lowcountry. We did have a few people from ‘away’ but locals all said, at the same time, Whistling Ducks LOL.
These big tropical ducks have found a new home.
The other Whistler comments were we all wondered how these big ducks have managed to fit inside all the old Wood Duck boxes around the swamps.
Small hole, big bird, tight squeeze. The scientists all agreed on this analysis.
