A local in a dark corner off the trail. Early sunlight on the duck weed gave these shots the extra push.
Best viewed large for the eye reflections.
While it’s hard to see here this is probably a two year old. Size not near what the close lens makes him look. At best a meter long. However, it’s pretty interesting to glance down and get this shot… keeping all my toes too.
You must swat a lot of mosquitos.
Yes, and no. It’s hard to say when you will. Gnats are a bigger issue out in the marshes. Horrible suckers, other times big flys. Just as often… nothing !! Woodlands on the edge of a swamp or marsh are where you get bit.
You will find spiders soon, big ass spiders !! Dragon flys by the millions, but mosquitoes only in certain places.
I used to work in the wetlands on the upper Texas coast and we always had plenty of mosquitos.
When the biting things are out it’s not easy. Bug spray only goes so far. Strong DEET can work, but it melts the camera… heaven knows what it’s doing to you.
I’m really struck by the beauty of this photo, have shared on twitter. 🙂
🙏🙏, thank you so much. Even an Alligator, in a swamp, can be beautiful 😁😁
Wonderful lighting. How early in the morning was this?
Early by some (my) standards. Maybe 7:30, obviously light out but in dark corners of a swamp the sun is streaming through Cypress and Moss.
Love the head shots of the alligator and those eyes are just amazing. Wow!
Thanks. Never expected the reaction I have received on this shot. I’m wondering how weird it would be to hang this, in metal. 😂😂
A lot of built up tension in this photograph. Half in light, half in the shadows. Almost like someone who is hiding their real feelings but some is showing… like when you walk in a room and you know someone is in a bad mood. It’s hard to explain, so I’ll just say “great photography”!
Wow, thanks so much. 🙏🙏
